AI Education and Exploration Lab Visits | Visitors can look around and experience AI demonstrations developed by the Project’s research team under the themes of “AI for Living”, “AI for Art” and “AI for Fun”. Docents will introduce the AI technology used in each demonstration. | 30 minutes |
Machine Learning Crash Course | Machine learning (ML) is the subfield of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that studies how computer systems can carry out complex processes by learning from data, rather than following pre-programmed rules. This workshop will leverage a story of a child who loves cooking to introduce the most essential ML basic concepts, and how to find a good ML solution. The workshop will also include a short hands-on project to solve a real-life problem using the knowledge just learnt. | 2 hours 15 minutes |
Introduction to Mechanical Tools | Apart from software support, hardware is also necessary to apply AI in daily life. Through this workshop, the speaker not only introduces safety rules of common mechanical tools but also demonstrate their basic usage. Participants would also have a chance to experience using these mechanical tools to assemble hardware toolkits. | 1 hour 30 minutes |
Experience AI with iCar | To provide entry level experience of AI, the Project’s research team developed iCar which equipped with various AI functions and used Blockly as programming language which is very suitable for beginners. Through this workshop, you can experience how to easily programme the robot car for different AI experiments | 1 hour 30 minutes |

1To join the Open Day, am I required to have a basic understanding of AI?
No, there is no requirement of basic knowledge of AI. Anyone interested in AI are welcome to join the Open Day.
2How can I get to William M.W. Mong Engineering Building?
A shuttle bus will be arranged for visitors to travel between the University MTR station, and M.W. Mong Engineering Building.
You may also drive to the building through the University Entrance (enter from Tai Po Road), Chung Chi College Entrance (enter from Tai Po Road) or East Gate Entrance (enter from Tolo Highway).

3Is it a must for adults to accompany children during the Open Day?
Visitors under 12 years old must be accompanied by adults throughout the Open Day. To ensure safe passage, visitors aged below 16 should be accompanied by adults for pick-up and drop-off at the event venue.
4Can registered visitors cancel the reservation before or during the Open Day?
The Open Day encourages registered visitors to attend sessions on time. If visitors wish to cancel the reservation for any reason, please inform our staff for arrangement at least one week prior to the event day. All the seats are not transferrable to third parties.
