Greater Bay Area AI for the Future Experiential Camp 2024

The Project held the Greater Bay Area AI for Future Experiential Camp 2024 on August 19 at the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute. The camps have been enjoying great popularity among schools, students and parents, attracting over a hundred local secondary students each summer. Infused with a bustling and jubilant atmosphere, the Camp was first held in Shenzhen this year, drawing participation of over 300 teachers and students from Hong Kong and Mainland cities.

AI Summit cum Learning & Teaching Expo 2023

On 15 December 2023, the Project organized the AI Summit themed “Harnessing AI for the Future” at the Learning & Teaching Expo 2023 in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Professor KWAN Mei Po, an internationally renowned geographer, was the keynote speaker. Professor Helen MENG, Co-Principal Investigator of the Project, and Professor Thomas CHIU, Teacher Development and School Engagement Team Head of the Project, chaired two panel discussions to share the latest developments in AI, applications and trends in AI education with AI experts and senior local educators.

"Artificial Intelligence Curriculum for Junior Secondary Students in Hong Kong - Teaching and Learning Pack" Publication Event

The Project held the publication event of "Artificial Intelligence Curriculum for Junior Secondary Students in Hong Kong - Teaching and Learning Pack" (Teaching and Learning Pack) on 28 September 2021 at Innoport, CUHK which attracted participation from over 50 guests. Dr. David CHUNG JP, Under Secretary of Innovation and Technology, Innovation and Technology Bureau of HKSAR Government, Ms. Winnie YING, Head of Charities of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Professor Isabella POON, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK jointly officiated the event. Representatives from the Project introduced the features of the Teaching and Learning Pack, the Curriculum design and the pedagogical framework. They also elaborated on how to incorporate our curriculum with the CUHK-JC iCar - an AI robot car originated from CUHK, as well as other AI education solutions in the market in order to offer students hands-on experiences.

Publication of the first-ever AI Teaching and Learning Pack co-created by CUHK and Secondary Schools

CUHK Curriculum Team Professors worked with teachers from six local Pioneering Schools to co-create an AI Curriculum for junior secondary education. Teachers from over 30 local secondary schools conducted over 2,600 pilot-teaching lessons, engaging over 5,000 teachers and students. With two-year effort of making, pilot-teaching, feedback and refinement, the Curriculum was compiled into a Teaching and Learning Pack by four teacher advisors, forming the first-ever AI Teaching and Learning Pack co-created by CUHK and Secondary Schools, namely “Artificial Intelligence Curriculum for Junior Secondary Students in Hong Kong - Teaching and Learning Pack” (Teaching and Learning Pack). The Teaching and Learning Pack will be published and distributed to Project schools soon.

Project Announcement Cum Secondary School Think and Create Competition 2020 Awards Presentation Ceremony

The Project held the Project Announcement Cum Secondary School Think and Create Competition 2020 Awards Presentation Ceremony (online) on 28 November (Saturday). The Ceremony received overwhelming responses from over 150 guests, school principals, teachers, students and industry representatives. Secretary for Education, Mr Kevin YEUNG Yun-hung JP, CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Isabella POON, Executive Director for Charities and Community Affairs of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Leong CHEUNG and Project Principal Investigator, Professor Yeung YAM officiated the Ceremony and shared the fruitful achievements of the Project in Year 1 with the participants. The Ceremony also presented awards to winning teams of Secondary School Think and Create Competition 2020.
