Eligibility

Team-based participation with two to four S.3 to S.5 students in the 2024/25 school year per team and led by a school teacher (No limit on the number of teams from each school)

Registration should be submitted by the school via the online application form here by 21 July 2025 (Monday)

09:00 – 09:30 Announcement of Hackathon Tasks
09:30 – 17:00 Hackathon Competition (an optional workshop available from 09:30 - 11:30)
17:00 – 18:00 Award Presentation Ceremony
*Participants will receive online learning resources for them to familiarize with basic Python before the competition

Award

The Best AI Award Team with the best AI model performance A trophy, certificates and gifts worth up to HKD3,000 (one team)
Silver Award Top 10% teams with the highest AI model accuracy A trophy, certificates and gifts worth up to HKD1,000 (per team)
Bronze Award Top 11% to 20% teams with the highest AI model accuracy Certificates
Certificate of Merit Top 21% to 30% teams with the highest AI model accuracy Certificates
Certificate of Participation Each participant will receive a certificate of participation as encouragement

Frequently Asked Questions

1Do students need any prior knowledge of AI or programming to participate in this competition?
The competition welcomes all S.3 to S.5 students, with no prior experience in AI or programming required. We will offer online learning resources for students to familiarize themselves with basic Python before the competition. There will also be an optional workshop on competition day to assist participants with the Hackathon task requirements.
2What programming language will be used in this competition?
Students will need to use Python to complete the programming tasks.
3Do students need to bring their laptops or any equipment to the competition?
Students should bring their laptops (no tablets) that run on Windows or macOS and can connect to Wi-Fi. Please also bring a charger to keep the computer powered throughout the day. They may also bring a mouse, keyboard, and any other personal computer accessories as needed.
4Do students need to install any specific software before the competition?
Students must have a web browser pre-installed on their laptops. Additionally, they will need a personal Google account to complete the online programming tasks.
5Can participants search for information online or use AI tools during the competition?
Students may search online for information and use AI tools to assist with the tasks. However, all work must be completed independently by participants during the competition. To maintain fairness and academic integrity, directly copying and pasting someone's work or AI-generated code with minimal to no original contribution, is prohibited. The Project reserves the right to review your chat history with AI chatbots or question about your code.
