Enhancing AI Learning and Teaching Effectiveness Through Building AIoT Project with CUHK iPort
14:00 - 14:50
With the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI has penetrated the education sector, creating a need for planning and implementation of AI education to nurture students’ interest and capabilities in learning AI from an early age. However, many AI teaching and learning resources in the market are limited to the software with little connection to the physical world, and is considered unconducive for learners to master abstract AI knowledge. Therefore, the CUHK research team developed “CUHK iPort”, an educational toolkit for upper primary and junior secondary level, integrating an AI model training platform, a wireless controller and flexible choices of components and accessories. It empowers students to unleash their innovative and creative potential to design and develop AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) projects connected with daily life. In this workshop, the speaker will introduce the key functions and features of iPort, demonstrate how to use it to develop AIoT projects and share practical examples of using iPort for teaching and learning in the classroom. In addition, the hands-on part of the workshop will enable participants to experience firsthand the AI model training process and building creative AIoT projects with iPort.
Innovating Education in the Era of AI – Applications of Generative AI in Teaching and Learning
15:00 - 15:50
Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) has seen vigorous development in recent years, bringing revolutionary changes to various industries. This workshop will explore how educators can leverage the advantages and capabilities of innovative technology and integrate Generative AI into daily teaching to assist their teaching work and enhance instructional effectiveness. The speaker will share and showcase practical applications of Generative AI tools in teaching and learning, including using ChatGPT to create personalized chatbots, innovating traditional teaching methods and enriching students’ learning experiences; generating educational resources based on curricula, creating engaging learning materials efficiently, etc., which aims to equip teachers to harness AI technology to optimize both teaching efficiency and learning effectiveness and create a more dynamic and innovative instructional environment.
Generative AI for Text: ChatGPT and Prompt Engineering Techniques
16:00 - 16:50
This workshop offers an in-depth exploration of Generative AI and AI-generated content (AIGC) related to text. Participants will start by learning basic concepts of text generation, including the meaning of "G," "P," and "T" in the context of ChatGPT and the mechanisms behind text generation. The focus will then shift to prompt engineering techniques, where participants will learn how to craft and design prompts strategically to guide generative AI systems in producing desired outputs effectively. The session will cover drafting basic prompts and introduce advanced prompt engineering tips. Using ChatGPT as the tool, the audience will engage in practical exercises that provide hands-on experience, allowing participants to apply these techniques in real-world scenarios. The workshop will conclude with a thoughtful discussion on the ethical considerations of AI text generation, addressing critical ethical issues and fostering a deeper understanding of the responsibilities in this field.
Generative AI for Images: Innovative Technologies and Practical Applications
17:00 - 17:50
In recent years, advancements in artificial intelligence(AI) have revolutionized the field of image generation. This workshop is designed to introduce participants to state-of-the-art AI technologies in image generation and to explore the potential of these AI-driven tools. We will also cover the ethical challenges of AI usage and the importance of promoting AI literacy among individuals. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the underlying concepts of image generation technologies and their diverse applications.
